This changes everything. Last night I experienced what is sure to be one of the most historically significant moments of my lifetime. Obama winning proves that there is validity to the American ideal; what people have said was a possibility for decades is now a reality. Americans will look at America differently now, as will the rest of the world.
The idealistic part of me views this as victory of faith over fear, optimism over cynicism, intellectualism over emotional reactionism. The realistic part of me knows that the truth is probably somewhat less glamourous than that.
Obama now has to prove himself, and that is going to be a hard thing to do. Regardless of how he performs, though, the fact that a black man has been elected president is an enormous paradigm shift for our country, and for the world. Here's to a (hopefully) more loving future.

So, not only did my parents vote Obama, but they WENT TO CHICAGO AND ATTENDED HIS VICTORY PARTY/ACCEPTANCE SPEECH. I don't know who these people claiming to be my parents are, but I sure am proud of them! :)
