11th graders love video games! So do some 27-year-olds. A few of the kids and I recently finished a little pet-project of building up a dual-screen video-game setup in the dorm common-room so that we can all play 8-player Halo-2.
It's surprising how much a video game helps me get to know the kids better; virtually sniping each other in the head can be a relationship-building experience. It's also an exercise in emotional control -- only two controllers have been broken in anger so far! (not by me) =)
